City of La Verne Finance Director Richard Martinez Announces His Retirement
Richard Martinez, Finance Director for the City of La Verne has announced his retirement. Mr. Martinez has worked in local government for 30 years and for the City of La Verne for 19 years. He started as Accounting Manager and promoted to Finance Director 3 years ago upon the retirement of Ronald Clark. Mr. Martinez looks forward to spending more time with his family and visiting his favorite vacation place more often – June Lake, CA. Mr. Martinez has stated that he is looking forward to this new chapter in his life. He will continue working part-time in the private sector. His last day will be September 14th.
City Manager Bob Russi announced that he is going through the process of interviewing Interim Finance Directors to oversee the financial operations of the City until a recruitment process can occur and permanent replacement is found. He expects to have a selection made prior to Mr. Martinez’ last day. Mr. Russi added, “Richard will be missed very much, but we certainly appreciate and understand his decision to retire.” Mayor Don Kendrick said, “We wish Richard all the best in his new endeavors and thank him for all of his loyal years of service to the City of La Verne.”
